Choosing a Space Heater for Home

Did you struggle to comfortably heat your home this winter without running up your heating bill? For next winter, consider investing in a better heater that won’t rack up your heating bill. We believe the answer could be a space heater, such as the Envi heater. Space heaters allow you to heat smaller areas without using a forced air central heating system, or other expensive, high-energy solutions like radiators and baseboard heaters. Strategic heating of this type is great for saving money. However, not all space heaters are created equal. You’ll find that run-of-the-mill units offer few benefits and plenty of drawbacks, but the Envi heater delivers powerful performance, energy savings and peace of mind.

If you have never owned a space heater, there are quite a few things you should know, and finding the right option for you is not as simple as just heading out to the store and purchasing the first one you see. Let’s dig into what you need to know to choose the best space heater for your home.

Size Considerations

Perhaps the most important consideration when buying a space heater is the size of the space that you’ll be heating. Each heater you look at should have a heating capability chart that indicates its minimum and maximum space. Of course, this means that you need to know how large the space is that you’re attempting to heat. Use a measuring tape to get this information before you buy one.

Types of Space Heater

There are many different types of space heaters on the market today. You’ll need to know how each works to ensure that you can purchase the right model for your specific needs.

Radiant: Radiant heaters, historically are the most common type of heater. They usually implement the use of metal filaments and reflectors to heat the air immediately around the heater very quickly, however, they do have a drastic heat dropoff when not in use. While they are good for heating personal space, they’re not very efficient at heating up entire rooms. Note that radiant heaters generally do not have fans, so the heat is not evenly dispersed throughout the room. Instead, it builds up over time and some areas will be warmer than others.

Convection: Convection heaters are less common than radiant heaters, but they do a better job of heating up larger spaces quickly, evenly, and more efficiently. Most convection heaters have fans, allowing cooler air to be pulled from around the heater, warmed, and then distributed back out. Of course, because they have a fan, they also blow dust and allergens around, and there is no such thing as a quiet fan-mounted space heater. Even the more advanced models make noise, which can be an issue for some, particularly if it is being used in a bedroom. On the other hand, an advanced convection heater like the Envi does not use a fan and delivers 100% silent operation to ensure peace and quiet.

Avoid Over Complications

Some heaters offer the ability to program their operations. While this may seem like a valuable benefit, it may not be. In fact, it can sometimes lead to additional hassle trying to understand confusing programming instructions. A better option is to use a heater with an adjustable, heat-controlling thermostat, like the Envi. This will ensure that the heater can operate as needed, without you having to worry about anything. All you need to do is choose the setting that you want to maintain, and then turn the heater on. Because of the Envi’s advanced construction and unique design, it can be left on 24-hours per day without worrying about safety or energy consumption, and the built-in thermostat ensures that your space stays warm and comfortable at all times.

Consider the Envi

Not sold on space heaters? We understand. Most of the options on the market are noisy and can be expensive to operate due to their significant energy consumption. Models with a fan blow allergens and dust around while making additional noise, and those without a fan simply don’t heat up the area very well.

As an alternative, consider the Envi. It’s ultra-safe, and extremely efficient due to the unique dual-stack convection technology that pulls cool air in through the bottom, as warm air rises from the top. In fact, the Envi’s advanced technology allows it to operate on an average of just four cents per hour. The Envi needs no fan to operate, so it is completely silent, and does not blow allergen-laden air around the room, either. In short, it should be the ideal solution to keep you warm and safe during the rest of this winter and the next.
